The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care is the two-state association representing over 100 hospice providers in North and South Carolina. The organization provides support to local hospice programs through technical assistance, education, and advocacy in the state legislatures, state regulatory bodies, and Congress. Hospice care is currently available in every North and South Carolina county. In 2010, more than 70,000 patients and their families were served in the Carolinas.

The NAMI movement focuses specifically upon those mental illnesses that are brain disorders. NAMI NC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership.

The North Carolina Health Access Coalition is a group of individuals and organizations from across the state advocating on behalf of health care consumers.

NC Health Info has an established history of meeting the health information needs and interests of English and Spanish speaking North Carolinians and leading users to resources that are reliable and easy to understand. Because links to information are vetted, selected, and maintained by North Carolina librarians who volunteer their time and expertise, users are assured of finding the very best information.

The North Carolina State Center for Health Statistics is responsible for data collection, health-related research, production of reports and maintenance of a comprehensive collection of health statistics.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the agency in state government responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.

The mission of the Environmental Health Section of the Division of Public Health is to safeguard life, promote human health and protect the environment through the practice of modern environmental health science, the use of technology, rules, public education and above all, dedication to the public trust.

The Section is comprised of the agencies which fall under the Food Protection and Facilities Branch, the Children's Environmental Health Branch, the Office of Education and Training, and the On-site Water Protection Branch.
