Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation:
This is the home page for the North Carolina Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation, which is part of the state Department of Transportation.  The site includes information on all aspects of bicycling and walking such as safety programs, maps for both road and mountain biking, safety training, workshops, and conferences.

Botanique: Gardens, Arboreta & Nature Sites:
This site lists more that 2300 gardens, arboreta, and natural sites in North America.  The above link goes directly to the site's North Carolina page.  The included nature sites are organized by city.

Ferry Schedules:
This is the home page of the North Carolina Ferry Division of the NC DOT.  Visitors to the site can learn about ferry history, routes, schedules, and other travel information.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park:
This privately maintained site provides information that will be of assistance in planning a visit to the park.  The site covers a wide array of subjects, from children's activities to hiking guides to camping safety tips.

Homegrown/Handmade Art Roads and Farm Trails of North Carolina:
This project, sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, lists a plethora of events, activities, and locations that showcase North Carolina's rich artistic and agricultural heritage.  Visitors to the site can browse several pre-planned "trails" that will help them to plan visits to the state. The trails include art galleries, horse farms, “u-pick” farming operations, locally owned restaurants that feature North Carolina food products, and picturesque bed-and-breakfast inns.

Insiders' Guide - North Carolina:
This is the online version of the book that will help you plan you trip to North Carolina.  On the page, visitors can find information on recreational opportunities in the area including local attractions, restaurants, and hotels.  The guide divides the state into four areas: Mountains, Central Coast, Outer Banks, and Wilmington & South Coast.

North Carolina Aquariums:
This site provides information for all of the aquariums in the state including news, events, and operating hours.  The site is maintained by the North Carolina Aquarium Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the state's three aquariums.

North Carolina Bed & Breakfasts and Inns Association:
This is the homepage of the Association, a statewide group of more than 125 lodging establishments "dedicated to ensuring the highest standards in quality, safety, housekeeping, food service, comfort and hospitality for the traveling public."   Visitors can use the site to locate North Carolina inns, read about their services, and even search for inns that are for sale.  The Association is based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
 
North Carolina Lighthouses:
On this site, users can view pictures of North Carolina lighthouses, look for tour information, and find directions to each listing.  The page is maintained by Outer-Banks.com.

North Carolina State Fair:
This is the official home page for the North Carolina State Fair which is held every October in Raleigh.  Visitors to the site can read about fair events, schedules, and ticketing information.

North Carolina State Parks:
The information on this site, maintained by the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation, is divided into education, recreation, and preservation.  Visitors can read state park news or view information on visiting one of the parks here.  

North Carolina Zoological Park:
This is the official site of the North Carolina Zoo.  In addition to resources for planning a visit, visitors to the site can learn about educational programs and volunteer opportunities that the zoo offers.  The NC Zoo is located in Asheboro.

Seafood Festival (Morehead City):
Visitors to the site can find information for both visitors and vendors, maps, and entertainment schedules for the event.  The celebration is held each year every first weekend in October in Morehead City, North Carolina.

State Capitol Visitors Services:
Sponsored by North Carolina State Historic Sites, this site is home to detailed tourist information for the state capitol.  Visitors to the site can read about the history of the capitol and find out about cultural events that take place at the capitol.  Both the capitol and the Visitors Services headquarters are located in Raleigh North Carolina.

Tryon Palace:
This is the web site for North Carolina’s first capitol, located in New Bern, North Carolina.  Tryon Palace is a state historic site and is a member of the American Association of Museums.  Visitors to the site can learn about the history of the area and find information on Tryon Palace events and attractions.

Winston-Salem N.C. Convention and Visitors Bureau:
This page, maintained by the Winston-Salem Convention and Visitor's Bureau, contains tourist information for the city.  Visitors to the site can learn about city events, tours, convention facilities, and even sporting events.
