The North Carolina Collection has microfilm of Sanborn Insurance Company maps for cities and towns in eastern North Carolina and other areas of the state. Most date from 1885 to the 1920s. These detailed maps show buildings, business enterprises, streets, roads, railroads, and other features. Updated at regular intervals, the maps are extremely useful for historical research.
