Sources for Finding Regulations

Code of Federal Regulations

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the federal government. The CFR is divided into 50 titles which represent broad areas subject to federal regulation. Each title is divided into chapters which usually bear the name of the issuing agency. Each chapter is further subdivided into parts covering specific regulatory areas. All parts are organized in sections. Most citations to the CFR are provided at the section level. The web version can be browsed by title, part and section, or searched by keyword.

Federal Register

The Federal Register is the official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of federal agencies and organizations, as well as Executive Orders and other Presidential documents. Use the Federal Register to update regulations found in the Code of Federal Regulations.

LexisNexis Congressional

Provides indexing, abstracts, and some fulltext of publications from and about the U.S. Congress. It includes the fulltext of congressional bills, testimony, reports, documents, selected prints, and the Congressional Record. It also includes the U.S. Code, the Federal Register, and the Code of Federal Regulations. Biographies, committee assignments, voting records and financial data are provided for current members of Congress. Some documents not available in fulltext on LexisNexis Congressional may be found in the Joyner Library Government Documents department. These documents are located using their SuDoc (Superintendent of Documents) number.

North Carolina Administrative Code
