Common Search Terms

Looking for more information on your campus?

Use the following Search Terms to search your university library's database:

  • Resiliency

  • mental health

  • college students

  • student health services

  • stress

  • counseling

  • higher education

  • college environment

  • wellness

  • Specific mental health challenges like depression,  ADHD, PTSD, etc.


Examples of searches using Boolean:

  • mental health AND college students

    • this expression asks the search engine to find materials with both terms in it)

  • (mental health OR wellness) and college students 

    • this expression asks the search engine to search for materials that include the terms mental health or wellness separately but both in relation to college students (ex. an article titled, "mental health in college students" vs. "wellness in college students")

    • higher education AND counseling

    • stress AND college students

NC Live provides access to free eBooks, databases, videos, and more for over 200 member libraries across North Carolina.

All UNC System institutions have access to these resources.

There are two ways to access NC Live materials:

  • Go directly to the NC Live website and enter the information on the search bar OR
  • Click the title to follow the link directly to the NC Live Webpage for this item. NC Live will ask you the name of your institution through a drop-down menu. Scroll through the menu until you locate the name of your library. Select the name of your library to to log into NC Live.
