The authors of this guide acknowledge that all data relating to particular groups of people can have limitations and biases.  The following article discusses some considerations when collecting or utilizing research data about transgender individuals.

Datasets

The following datasets contain health care data on transgender and LGBTQ+ individuals.

TransPop: Probability sample data from 2016-2018 of health care information for transgender individuals in the U.S.

Social Justice Sexuality: 2010 survey of LGBT individuals focusing on black, latinx, asian and pacific islander, and multiracial individuals.

Organizations

Each of these organizations performs data collection, reporting, or research on transgender health care.  And their webpages can be searched for datasets and reports on the topic.

Campaign for Southern Equality: Publishes several reports on transgender and LGBTQ+ health care data from 2019.

Reports

The following resources report on data collected by the organizations listed.

U.S. Trans Survey: The largest research survey covering information related to transgender individuals in the United States. Publishes reports on data from both 2015 and 2022.

Health Equality Index: Reports on data evaluating health care facilities for equity and inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals. Published 2024 by the Human Rights Campaign.
