This is a guide to resources for Art History students who are researching topics related to cultural heritage, indigenous cultures, environment impact, and tourism.

Finding Books

Books represent a large amount of the material housed in Joyner Library and online. Books can be found in the catalog.

On this page, you will find:

  • A tutorial teaching you how to search in the catalog
  • A search box to look for books in the catalog
  • Tips and tricks for searching the catalog (left column)

Search the Library Catalog

The library catalog is where you can search for books, videos, DVD's, etc.

Searching for Books?

You may search the library catalog for items housed in Joyner Library in the box above.  To do the following searches and for more options, you may want to visit the ECU Libraries' Library Catalog. You may search by word or phrase, author, title, or subject.

Conduct a subject search in the library catalog for those subject headings which are appropriate for your class by selecting the "begins with..." search type and choosing "subject" from the drop menu.  For example:

  • Indigenous peoples
  • Ethnohistory

Also, try words or phrase search such as:

  • ethnic studies AND asian
