Library Resources for ECU Intended Nursing Students: Home

Hi! My name is Carrie Forbes and I am the Liaison Librarian for undergraduate nursing students at ECU. This is a short & quick guide to free resources for you (the intended nursing student) at ECU. I am here to assist you anytime during your educational journey at ECU, both before you get into the nursing program and once you've been accepted as a Pirate Nursing student! BE APA-PREPARED! 

Start learning how to use APA 7th edition, the writing style guide of the American Psychological Association. This is the citing and writing style accepted by the ECU College of Nursing. Visit our Laupus Library APA 7 libguide! 

Learning Express with PrepSTEP is a database available through NCLIVE, one of the tools available from Laupus Library. Below are instructions for how to access both a free downloadable PDF study guide for the HESI:  

HOW to access the HESI Study guide, called "Nursing School Entrance Exams: Your Guide to Passing the Test" 

• Go to Laupus Library
• Fine "Database List" in the gray bar
• Under Browse by Letter, choose "N" 
• Scroll down and choose "NC Live Homepage & Resources" 
• Search for this phrase (copy and paste it into the search bar): "Nursing School Entrance Exam"
• You will see the option below under "Ebooks" - "Nursing school entrance exam: your guide to passing the test" 

• Click on the title of the book and you will see the screen below, asking you to create an account. Simply click on the "Sign In/Register" to create an account with EBSCOLearning Express. 

• Once you've logged in, You'll SEE the HESI Exam Guide listed in the eBOOKS section of "My Center" 
   

• ONCE You've clicked on the title of the book, a COMPLETE PDF of the book will download on your computer. You can use this ANYTIME without having to redownload the book. The PDF is searchable by keyword.

Before you get started, you will need to SIGN IN/REGISTER FOR AN ACCOUNT (as you can see below) before you can start taking the practice tests:

HOW to access the Nursing School Entrance Exam Practice Tests: 

• Go to Laupus Library
• Fine "Database List" in the gray bar
• Under Browse by Letter, choose "L" 
• Scroll down and choose "Learning Express with PrepSTEP"
• Search for this phrase (copy and paste it into the search bar): "Nursing School Entrance Exam"
• You will see all of the practice test and other study options available: 

Depending on which options you want to use, you can "unclick" or "reclick" the boxes to narrow down your results to JUST practice tests or JUST tutorials or JUST flashcards, etc...
