Introduction
This
guide consists of a collection of resources that focus on the evolution
of East Carolina University from the East Carolina Teachers Training
School to the current incarnarnation of the institution. These
resources have been broken down into four sections that correspond with
the four phases of the development of ECU.
- East Carolina Teachers Training School (chartered 1907; first students admitted 1909)
- East Carolina Teachers College (renamed in 1921)
- East Carolina College (received college status and renamed in 1951)
- East Carolina University (received university status and renamed in 1967)
