CINAHL

This guide will help you navigate CINAHL®, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, the most comprehensive resource for nursing and allied health literature.

CINAHL via EBSCO

Covers the literature related to nursing and allied health fields, which include physical and radiologic therapy; cardiopulmonary, medical and laboratory technology; occupational therapy; radiologic technology; social assisting; the physician's assistant; surgical technology; and health education. CINAHL indexes nearly 3,000 journals, and provides fulltext content to more than 300. CINAHL also includes health care books, nursing dissertations, standards of professional practice, nurse practice acts and educational software.

CINAHL® subject headings are used to index the literature contained in the database. These subject headings were developed to reflect the terminology used by nursing and the allied health professionals. CINAHL subject headings follow the structure of the Medical Subject Headings, or MeSH, used by the National Library of Medicine. This structure has been used to develop 12,714 CINAHL subject headings. These subject headings are used to effectively search the database and retrieve literature citations on a specific topic.
